01 — Overview

What the Vault is.

Most child health evidence is scattered, inconsistent, and rarely built for African families. The Vault changes that.

A single, rigorously maintained source of verified child health evidence — translated into guidance families and institutions can actually use.

Structured

Every entry follows one fixed specification, so the evidence is consistent, comparable, and machine-ready — not a loose reading list.

Verified

Each entry is independently audited. Sources, citations, and claims are checked and corrected, with a transparent trail.

Translated

Findings are rewritten in plain, culturally relevant language for parents, schools, and community health workers.

02 — Architecture

Organized by six pillars.

Every entry lives within one of six pillars — the foundations of how a child grows, develops, and thrives.
01
Live

Nourish

Nutrition and feeding for healthy growth.
02

Move

Physical activity and active play.
03

Sleep

Restorative, age-appropriate rest.
04

05

Emotional and mental wellbeing.
06

Healthy routines and everyday rhythm.
03 — Anatomy

Inside an entry.

Each piece of evidence is captured the same way — so nothing essential is missing, and every claim is traceable.
i

Verified Source

The original study or report, with author, year, and a checked, corrected citation and identifier.

ii

Evidence Grade

A tier reflecting the strength and rigour of the underlying research.

iii

What It Shows

An honest summary of the finding — including limits, caveats, and what it does not prove.

iv

Local Relevance

How the evidence applies in African — and specifically Nigerian and Ghanaian — contexts.

v

Plain-Language Guidance

The finding translated into clear, practical advice for families and caregivers.

vi

Audit Trail

A record of what was checked, corrected, and why — so the entry can be trusted and revisited.

04 — Methodology

How an entry is built.

A disciplined pipeline from raw research to trusted, usable guidance.
01

Curate

Evidence is selected against a fixed specification and placed within its pillar — prioritising rigorous and African research.

02

Grade

Each source is assigned an evidence tier reflecting the strength of its design and findings.

03

Verify

Every entry is forensically audited — citations, identifiers, and claims are checked against the original sources and corrected.

04

Translate

Verified findings are rewritten in plain, culturally relevant language for the families and institutions who will use them.

05

Maintain

Entries are continuously re-audited and updated as evidence evolves — the Vault is living, not static.

05 — Standards

How we grade evidence.

Not all evidence is equal. We grade it honestly, so guidance reflects how strong the science actually is.
Tier 1Strongest

The most rigorous evidence — randomised controlled trials, systematic reviews, and meta-analyses. The firmest ground for guidance.

Tier 2Supporting

Valuable supporting evidence — critical and narrative reviews, observational studies, burden estimates, and authoritative reports. Strong, but held to its proper weight.

African-weighted

We track and prioritise African research across every pillar — so guidance reflects local foods, contexts, and realities, rather than imported assumptions.

06 — Who It's For

Built to be used.

One rigorous source, serving everyone working for healthier African children.
01

Families

Through clear, translated guidance they can trust and act on.

02

Researchers

A structured, verifiable evidence base for study and synthesis.

03

Schools

Reliable grounding for health and nutrition programmes.

04

NGOs

Evidence to design and defend effective interventions.

05

Policymakers

Honest, graded evidence to inform child health policy.
