How we grade evidence.

Not all evidence is equal. We grade it honestly, so guidance reflects how strong the science actually is.

Tier 1Strongest

The most rigorous evidence randomised controlled trials, systematic reviews, and meta-analyses. The firmest ground for guidance.

Tier 2Supporting

Valuable supporting evidence critical and narrative reviews, observational studies, burden estimates, and authoritative reports. Strong, but held to its proper weight.

African-weighted

We track and prioritise African research across every pillar so guidance reflects local foods, contexts, and realities, rather than imported assumptions.
